Real Clients, Real Stories: The Power of Coaching

1 CCEU Resource Competency Credit

Celebrate International Coaching Week! Learn and explore the benefits of coaching from a panel of clients sharing the stories and impact of their personal coaching journeys. These stories and experiences represent the perspective of the clients rather than the role of the coach. The panel is designed to illustrate the transactional nature of the coaching process. Guest panelists will include Adam Frinsco, Steven Leeper, Melissa Tompkins, and Jeffrey Wang.

International Coaching Week is May 7-13, and is designed to enhance awareness of the value of professional coaching. Invite friends and colleagues - it's a great program for anyone wanting to learn more about the impact of coaching.

About the Panelists

Jeffrey Wang - Jeffrey is a Junior at Rice University studying Computer Science. Since receiving coaching last year, he has grown tremendously as a leader through his role as chair and project lead of an organization called RiceApps - they are a student run organization that build applications for on-campus businesses and services. Coaching has helped him navigate the complexities of leading in a highly technical environment and as a result, he has been able to accomplish major milestones in his organization. In his free time, he is an avid photographer who enjoys walking the streets of Houston and interacting with kind strangers!

Steven Leeper - Steven is the founder of Matchstick (, a Houston-based Executive Search firm. He has spent the last 15 years in the Marketing, Creative, and Recruiting fields -- including a not-to-be-missed career debut as a certified Wienermobile pilot. Active in the Houston community and a board member of the American Marketing Association Houston chapter, Steven has built Matchstick out of his unique ability and passion for matching the right people and teams to the organization's needs. Steven has benefited greatly from receiving coaching in the realms of personal development, leadership and business growth.

Melissa Tompkins - Melissa is currently the Managing Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Service Corporation International (SCI), North America’s largest single provider of funeral, cremation, and cemetery services (24,000 associates).  She has been with SCI for 22 years, starting as an Accounting Clerk in 1996.  While she is currently in a financial role, she has held a variety of positions with SCI, which has allowed her to become an informal business liaison for the company’s Business Intelligence function.  She is the mother of two very busy children, and when she is not working or at a baseball tournament or horseback riding lessons with her children, you can find her at her recently purchased property near Schulenburg, TX soaking up the country air and fishing. Melissa has worked with a professional coach, and experienced its benefits, for the last six years.

Adam Frinsco - Adam works for The Advocates, an independent wealth planning firm in Houston, and is responsible for leading and advising his clients through the development and implementation of a personal financial plan. Although he’s been working in the financial planning industry for almost a decade, he’s only recently realized the value of an Advisor Coach, especially after having his schedule reorganized by his first child, born in February.
